(b) The 800 and 300 yards firing points to be
on the hill side at or above the level of
the old 800 yards firing point on sites
to be approved by the Military Authori-
ties.
(c) The Range to be for the use of the Navy,
subject only to Military defensive re-
quirements, and to the occasional use of
the Range by the Military by mutual
arrangement.
(d) The Navy to be permitted to erect and
maintain shelter sheds near the Range on
sites to be approved as in (b).
6. I am authorized by Commodore Bury-Palliser, who
has read this letter, to state that he concurs in the arrange-
ments and conditions here proposed, which I have hitherto
delayed to communicate to Your Excellency pending the receipt,
by the Commodore, of a reply from the Admiral Commander-in-
Chief, to his communication referred to in my letter of the
28th ultimo. Having now received the full concurrence of His
Excellency the Admiral Commander-in-Chief direct, and also
through the Commodore, a copy of whose letter of the 26th
instant I append hereto, I now submit these proposals for
Your Excellency's approval.
3. I would invite attention to the desire of the
Commodore to receive a notification of the decision on this
matter at as early a date as possible.
